Electric Oven Repairs Across Bristol
If your oven has stopped heating, is cooking unevenly, keeps cutting out, or will not start at all, we can help. James and the team provide same day and next day electric oven repairs across every Bristol BS postcode, with no call-out fee.
We repair single ovens, double ovens, built-in ovens, built-under ovens and freestanding models. Whether your oven is part of a fitted kitchen or a standalone unit, we have the experience and parts to fix it.
We do not repair gas ovens. If you have a gas cooker with an electric oven section, we can repair the electric oven and grill components but not the gas hob or gas burners. For cooker repairs including hobs and combination units, visit our cooker repairs page.
Common Oven Faults We Fix
Oven Not Heating
This is the most common fault we see. In most cases a heating element has failed. Electric ovens use different elements for different functions. A circular element for fan assisted cooking, a base element for conventional heat, and a grill element at the top. We test each element individually to identify the failed part and replace it.
Oven Cutting Out Mid Cook
If your oven heats up but then switches off before the cycle finishes, the most likely cause is the thermal safety limiter. This safety device cuts the power if the oven becomes too hot. It can be triggered by a faulty thermostat, a failed cooling fan, or a blocked ventilation channel. We test the safety circuit to find the root cause rather than simply resetting the limiter.
Uneven Cooking or Cold Spots
If your food burns on one side and remains undercooked on the other, the circulation fan is usually the problem. The fan pushes hot air around the oven cavity to distribute heat evenly. When it slows down or stops, one side of the oven becomes much hotter than the other. We replace fan motors and check the element at the same time as both components work together.
Other Oven Faults We Repair
Oven Not Starting At All
Many electric ovens will not start if the timer or clock is not set correctly, or if the clock module has failed. This often appears to be a major fault but is usually a straightforward fix. We also check the selector switch, wiring and control board if the timer is not the cause.
Oven Door Not Closing Properly
A door that does not close fully allows heat to escape, which means the oven takes longer to cook and uses more electricity. The usual cause is worn or broken door hinges, a damaged door seal or a faulty catch mechanism. We also repair specialist door systems such as the Neff Slide and Hide mechanism, which uses a more complex hinge and runner system.
Burning Smell From the Oven
If your oven smells of burning when there is no food inside, it is often caused by a failing electrical component, damaged wiring or insulation that has degraded. This should be checked quickly. We carry out electrical safety testing to identify the source and repair the fault.

What Is the Difference Between an Oven and a Cooker?
An oven is the enclosed appliance used for baking and roasting. It can be a built in unit fitted into a kitchen cabinet, a built under unit beneath a worktop, or part of a freestanding appliance.
A cooker is a complete freestanding appliance that combines an oven or double oven with a hob on top. If your appliance has both a hob and an oven in one unit, it is a cooker.
This page covers oven repairs including built in ovens, built under ovens and the oven section of freestanding cookers. If you need a hob repaired, or your entire freestanding cooker has a fault, visit our cooker repairs page.

Brands we repair
Oven Brands We Service
We repair electric ovens from all major manufacturers. Here are the brands we work on most frequently in Bristol and the faults we see most often.
Bosch
Bosch fan ovens commonly develop faults where the oven takes too long to reach temperature or does not heat evenly. This is usually caused by a failing circular element or a worn fan motor. We carry replacement elements and motors for the most common Bosch oven models.
Neff
Neff ovens are popular in fitted kitchens across Bristol. The most common faults we see are overheating caused by a faulty thermostat or temperature sensor, and issues with the Slide and Hide door mechanism which uses a complex hinge and runner system that needs precise adjustment.
Hotpoint
Hotpoint ovens frequently cut out mid cycle due to thermal limiter faults. We also regularly replace failed grill elements and selector switches on older Hotpoint models.
Beko
Beko oven element failures are one of the most common repairs we carry out. Beko ovens are widely used across Bristol and the elements are readily available, making this a quick and affordable repair.
AEG
AEG ovens use advanced electronic control boards and pyrolytic self cleaning systems. When these develop a fault the oven may display an error code, fail to start, or lock the door unexpectedly. We diagnose the control system to identify the cause.
Smeg
Smeg ovens combine distinctive design with high quality components. Common faults include thermostat failure, element burnout and fan motor problems. We repair both modern and older Smeg models.
Indesit
Indesit ovens are common in rental properties across Bristol. Typical faults include failed elements, stuck selector switches and timer malfunctions. Parts are widely available which keeps repairs cost effective.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most common fault with an electric oven?
The most common fault is a failed heating element. Electric ovens use separate elements for fan-assisted cooking, conventional heat, and the grill. When one fails, the oven either stops heating altogether or only works on certain settings. Element replacement is a straightforward repair.
Why is my oven not heating up properly?
The most likely causes are a failed element, a faulty thermostat, or a worn circulation fan motor. If the oven heats but not to the correct temperature, the thermostat or temperature sensor is usually the issue. If the oven does not heat at all, it is more likely an element or a control fault. We test all three during a single visit.
Why does my oven keep cutting out?
This is usually caused by the thermal safety limiter, which cuts the power if the oven overheats. The underlying cause is often a faulty thermostat that allows the oven to get too hot, or a failed cooling fan that is not keeping the electronics cool enough. We test the safety circuit to find and fix the root cause.
My oven will not start at all. Is it broken?
Not necessarily. Many electric ovens will not start if the built-in timer or clock is not set correctly, or if the clock module has failed. This is one of the most common calls we get, and it is often a simple fix. If the timer is not the cause, we check the selector switch, wiring, and control board.
Is it worth repairing an oven?
In most cases, yes. Oven faults are usually caused by a single failed component such as an element, thermostat, or fan motor. These are affordable to replace and the repair is much cheaper than buying a new oven, especially for built-in models where replacement also involves fitting costs. For ovens less than ten years old, repair is almost always the better option.
Is there a call-out fee?
No. There is no call-out fee. You only pay for the repair itself.
What is the difference between an oven repair and a cooker repair?
An oven is the enclosed box where you bake and roast. A cooker is a complete freestanding unit with a hob on top and an oven below. We repair both. This page covers oven repairs. For cooker repairs including hobs, visit our cooker repairs page.
How quickly can you repair my oven?
We offer same day and next day appointments across all Bristol BS postcodes. Most oven repairs are completed in a single visit. Call 0117 905 7731 to check current availability.
